Overview 

 

Introducing a comprehensive programme of courses for 'live system' training in the Galileo Global Distribution System and in automated Fares and Ticketing. The programmes set the standard in automated Fares and Ticketing training.

 

These Star Alliance/GTMC programmes allow students the distinctive opportunity to learn and practice on the live Galileo Global Distribution System. The modules, developed by some of the most experienced trainers in the travel industry, will lead to approved professional qualifications endorsed by Star Alliance, the world's largest airline network and the Guild of Travel Management Companies. The training material has been developed in direct collaboration with Galileo and contains fully comprehensive course notes and extensive question/answer exercises - ideal preparation for examinations. The programmes are accredited by City and Guilds as part of their Tourism qualifications.

 

 

Galileo Professional

 

This four day or 60 hour course equips industry entrants with a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Galileo GDS, combining trainer led demonstrations with practical exercises creating, storing, retrieving and amending complex travel itineraries.

 

On completion of this module, students will be able to: 

  • Access the Galileo System, conforming to security procedures

  • Request and interpret availability and timetable screens

  • Book the most suitable flights for the client's itinerary

  • Input mandatory and optional booking file information including TODs

  • Add, amend and cancel passenger servicing information and booking file servicing requests

  • Recognise different fare types

  • Access and apply the relevant fare notes

  • Obtain the most appropriate fare quote for the itinerary's requirements

  • Interpret the booking file history to determine all changes from original creation

  • Work with the Galileo Queuing System  

 

Galileo GA-1 

 

This four day or 60 hour course combines trainer led demonstrations with practical exercises, and interactive use of the Global Distribution System to give you a thorough grounding in the skills required for quoting fundamental air fares with confidence and ease. 

 

On completion of this module, students will be able to:  

  • Identify IATA geographical areas, sub-areas and Global
    Routing Indicators

  • Select the lowest applicable fare for a given itinerary using Galileo 360° Fares

  • Construct fares for fundamental multi-sector journeys, applying
    the mileage system, NUCs and converting into Local Currency

  • Complete fare calculation area details in manual and automated formats

  • Interpret all types of IATA travel documents from e-tickets to ATBs,
    from OPTAT/TAT to manual tickets

  • Interpret all types of Multiple Purpose Documents and Miscellaneous Charges Orders

 
Galileo GA-2 

 

This four day or 60 hour course, with the interactive use of the Galileo Global Distribution System, combines trainer led demonstrations with practical exercises, to enable you to easily recognise and construct complex air fares.

On completion of this module, students will be able to: 

  • Construct fares for multi-sector journeys applying the mileage system, Higher Intermediate Points and Minimum Fare Checks

  • Determine fares for itineraries with more than one breakpoint

  • Calculate fares for itineraries with Surface Sectors

  • Apply Side Trip constructions

  • Assess fares for journeys of Differing Classes

  • Interpret and apply Special Fare rules to multi-sector itineraries and Open Jaw constructions

  • Recognise Automated and Manual fare calculation area details

     

 

 

 

  • Students benefit from the real experience of studying on the Live Galileo System as it is used by travel agents

  • Centres can administer the exams at any time

  • Exam results are issued within three weeks of CTH receiving the exam

  • Centres can receive guidance and support from an experienced Fares and Ticketing trainer

  • Each teaching centre is provided with a separate trainer's support pack with additional student exercises

  • Successful students are issued with a Galileo/GTMC certificate
