CTH at 2013 GTMC Conference in Barcelona
 
2013 GTMC ConferenceSimon Cleaver, Chairman of CTH, attended the GTMC (Guild of Travel Management Companies) 2013 Annual Conference in Barcelona this April.
 
The GTMC is the industry association for the business travel sector and includes specialist travel management companies (representing over £7 billion of travel spend), as well as major airlines and hotel companies including British Airways, Emirates, Marriott and Best Western.

Progression arrangements for CTH Graduates with BPP University College
 
CTH is delighted to offer CTH graduates the opportunity to convert their CTH qualification to a Master's degree at BPP University College.
 
CTH graduates will be able to complete the qualification at BPP University College's various campuses internationally or online via BPP's online study portal.
 
The first full time student cohort is scheduled in September 2012 with further intake in January 2013, and the first online student cohort is scheduled in January 2013.

CTH Chairman presents Student of the Year award at Gordon Ramsay's Tante Marie culinary school
 
On Wednesday 27th CTH's Chairman, Mr Simon Cleaver, and CTH's Head of Operations & Compliance, Ms Sue Graham were delighted to attend the Summer graduation ceremony at Gordon Ramsay's Tante Marie culinary school in Woking near London.
 
At the invitation of the school CTH's Chairman formally presented 19 year old Kristoffer Thygesen from Denmark with the schools coveted Tante Marie Student of the Year Award as part of the ceremony.

We are partnering with ABTA, People 1st, Travel Weekly, Training for Travel and Travel Uni to produce a magazine which will be distributed to schools, colleges and training providers to promote the wide variety of career paths and training options available in the travel industry.

Dr. Wai Mun Lim - CTH Fellow
 
Simon Cleaver, Chairman of CTH presenting the fellowship to Dr. Wai Mun LimThe Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) is proud to announce the official conferment of Dr. Wai Mun Lim as a CTH Fellow. CTH Fellowship is awarded at the discretion of CTH to those who have achieved positions of significant responsibility in the industry or who have made notable contributions to the work of the Confederation. This is the CTH's ultimate accolade and it is only awarded on third party recommendation and after careful consideration by the CTH board.
 
Dr. Wai Mun Lim is Associate Professor of Service Management at Plymouth University. She was awarded a Teaching Fellowship and nominated as an AIM Associate (Advanced Institute of Management) in 2010. Prior to her embarking on an academic career, she was a tour operator in Singapore for many years. She publishes widely in the area of technology adoption within the tourism and hospitality industry and has won grants investigating the use of technology in small and medium sized enterprises. Her expertise in the adoption of Web 1 and 2 technologies has also won her various consulting projects with private companies ranging from art design firms to global hotel chains. Her current research interests are in the use of information technology in developing countries, internet technologies for distribution and marketing and how businesses co-create value with customers via technology. Her pedagogic research includes exploring how academics co-create value with businesses via curriculum. She currently lectures in: Managing Service Innovation; Business Strategy and Finance; and e-Service Strategies.

CTH student members will reap the benefits of this fantastic partnership. The partnership aims to promote a dynamic industry blend by bringing together both academic and industry players in the Hospitality context in Singapore. Both the organisations share the common ethos and belief that practical training is essential in grooming future talent in the effort of developing Singapore to excel in the hospitality industry internationally. To achieve that shared value, the partnership also aspires to leverage new training opportunities to prepare the students to be more industry ready. Both organizations believe that the joint partnership will bring more positive synergy to the industry.
 

 
Hilton Hotel, Singapore
 
CTH has signed an internship agreement with the Hilton Hotel in Singapore. CTH student members will reap the benefits of this fantastic partnership. CTH students who are currently studying in the South East Asia region, particularly in Singapore will have the opportunity to work at the hotel through an internship programme. On top of this, the hotel will provide an allowance for students who take up this opportunity. Both CTH and the Hilton are very excited about this agreement.
 

 
Culinary Arts 21st Anniversary Trophy
 
CTH is proud to award the Culinary Arts 21st Anniversary Trophy to Richard Holden. This award goes to the student achieving the highest mark in Practical Cookery.

 

 
CTH Student Members are Now Officially Welcomed by Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel
 
The Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) has just signed an internship agreement with the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel in Malaysia. CTH student members will reap the benefits of this fantastic partnership. The partnership aims to promote a dynamic industry blend by bringing together both academic and industry players in the Hospitality context in Malaysia. Both the organisations share the common ethos and belief that practical training is essential in grooming future talent in the effort of developing Malaysia to excel in the hospitality industry internationally. To achieve that shared value, the partnership also aspires to leverage new training opportunities to prepare the students to be more industry ready. A simple ceremony was held at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel on the 9 March 2012 to mark the accomplishment of this collaboration. Both CTH Chairman, Simon Cleaver and the Director of Operations of Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel, Victor Parada envision that the joint effort of both organisations will bring more positive synergy to the industry.
 

 
Centre of the Month - London School of Business and Finance
 
CTH and London School of Business and Finance had a signing event on the 10th of February. LSBF has been awarded CTH Accreditation status to run the full range of CTH’s qualifications. The event was held at LSBF and was attended by CTH’s GM, Ian Pack and LSBF’s Director of Professional School QA and Vocational Programmes, Teresa Jacobs.

CTH Chairman and Professional Skills team attend GTMC Autumn Conference
 
On October 31st CTH's Chairman, Simon Cleaver, and two of our Professional Skill section team members, Jo Wild and Ulpa Chauhan, were invited to attend the GTMC (Guild of Travel Management Companies) Autumn Conference at the new Marriott St Pancras Renaissance London 5-Star hotel. Other attendees included senior personnel from major airlines, such as Virgin Atlantic, and leading hotels, such as the Hilton group, as well as representatives from the UK's business travel sector. During the day delegates discussed in open forum a wide range of industry issues including governmental regulation, the impact of technology and evolving trends in the industry.
