The CTH Level 1 in English for Tourism and Hospitality is designed to provide candidates with a range of communication and study skills and prepare them for an effective academic progression route.

Aims of the qualification:

  • To provide students with a range of communication and study skills that can be used both in academia and in a vocational context;
  • Gives a student an effective academic progression route;
  • Provides for an entry route into the tourism and hospitality industry.

CTH accredited centres will assess all applicants to ensure they are able to meet the demands of the course.

Syllabus Overview:

Level 1 Award, Certificate & Diploma in English for Tourism and Hospitality including Level 1 ESOL qualification (Ofqual No. Tbc)

For a CTH Level 1 Award, candidates must achieve:

  • One mandatory unit

For a CTH Level 1 Certificate, candidates must achieve:

  • All 3 mandatory units, providing 19 credits (190 TQT)

For a CTH Level 1 Diploma, candidates must achieve:

  • 3 mandatory units, plus 3 additional units providing 37 credits or 370 TQT
  • Students seeking access to CTH qualifications at Level 3 or above must include the Study Skills unit as one of their additional units
