The Pakistan Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (PITHM) is an internationally recognised government training institute that has been developing skilled professionals for the tourism and hospitality industry since 1967.
Established with the support of the Government of Pakistan, PITHM was created to train personnel for hotels, restaurants, airlines, shipping lines and various catering vocations.
Initially functioning under the National Tourism Organisation, the institute was registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act of 1860 in September 1972, thereby gaining the status of a semi-autonomous body.
Following the 18th Constitutional Amendment, PITHM was transferred to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities, Government of Sindh, where it continues to operate as a semi-autonomous institution governed by its own Board of Governors. The Minister and Secretary of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities serve as the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board, respectively, while the Director of PITHM acts as the Secretary of the Board.
PITHM’s faculty comprises highly qualified and experienced professionals who deliver training in accordance with international standards. The institute aims to enhance the competence, capability and performance of its trainees, enabling them to contribute effectively to the hospitality and tourism sectors both locally and internationally.
Located in Clifton, Karachi, the institute covers an area of 10,000 square yards, with a building constructed on 24,000 sq. ft. along Shahrah-e-Attar a central and easily accessible location.
The campus features five well-equipped classrooms, a modern training restaurant, three fully functional training kitchens, a working bakery, an air-conditioned computer lab, a well-stocked library, a seminar hall with a capacity of 200 people and a cafeteria.
With over five decades of service, PITHM continues to uphold its legacy as a pioneer in hospitality and tourism education in Pakistan, contributing significantly to the development of human resources in this vital sector.
