CTH Level 2 Certificate in Professional Bartending Skills

This certificate-level programme is designed to equip learners with the essential bartending skills necessary to perform the role and is an ideal entry point for learners starting out in the Food and Beverage sector.

Programme Overview

The Level 2 Certificate in Professional Bartending Skills has been developed in partnership with some of the world’s top drinks brands and experienced industry professionals. The programme aims to familiarise students with the constituents and make up of a wide variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, as well as the practices necessary to maintain a safe and well-presented bar.

In addition, learners will be taught how to ensure customers are well-cared for so that their experience is both enjoyable and relaxing.

Whether working in a prestigious rooftop bar, restaurant, nightclub, cruise ship or pub, this programme is designed to provide a firm foundation for a distinguished career in bartending. On completion of this qualification, graduates may progress in their career or, with suitable experience, continue to further study on the CTH Level 4 Diploma in Professional Bar Management.

Entry Requirements

The Level 2 programme is open access with no entry requirements other than a reasonable command of English.

Beverage Production
This unit aims to introduce learners to a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and how alcohol affects the human brain and body. Learners will understand how a range of drinks are manufactured. They will understand the key concepts of the importance of food and drink harmony and will gain an understanding of the importance of sustainability practices within hospitality operations.

Customer Service Skills
This unit aims to introduce the learners to the skills required to look after guests in licenced premises, how to open and close the bar areas, how to meet and greet guests, how to take an order, how to prepare and serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and how to take payments and look after customers well.

Legislation in Licensed Premises
This unit aims to introduce learners to Health & Safety standards & food safety within different types of hospitality operations, to introduce learners to basic health & safety principles, how to reduce risks and safely prepare a bar for service, as well as the legal requirements of beverage service, food hygiene, selling goods by description, avoiding discrimination, customer property and debt and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations).
