This sacred Buddhist site, popularly known as the city of Senkadagalapura, was the last capitol of Sinhala kings whose patronage enabled Sinhala culture to flourish more than 2500 years until the occupation of Sri Lanka by the British in 1815. The city is situated in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau, which crosses an area of tropical plantations, mainly tea. Kandy is both an administrative and religious city and the capital of the Central Province. Kandy is the home of the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. Historically the local Buddhist rulers resisted Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonial expansion and occupation.
AIBT Kandy Campus is a 15000 sqft campus with the facility to accommodate more than 1000 active students at any given time . AIBT Kandy Campus consists of Administrative and coordination offices, Student counseling, State of the art computer labs and lecture halls, library with over 5000 text books and student area with recreation facilities .
