We are excited to share the recent news regarding CTH Centre, ActionInvest Caribbean who last week celebrated their inaugural ceremony.

Held at the Guyana Marriott Hotel, the inaugural ceremony welcomed notable guests and included speeches from the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond as well as Executive Chairman of ACI, Dr. Vishnu Doerga.

Various topics were discussed, including tourism in Guyana, the partnership between ACI and CTH, as well as the CTH programmes themselves. During his speech, Dr. Vishnu Doerga said:

We have so many more components to tourism that needs to be in place… Programmes like CTH will help with the fundamental, theoretical reasons of how this industry works and why the components are there that will allow people to understand how we can turn this into a profitable enterprise.

In recent years, tourism in Guyana has suffered, the reasons vary; however, one explanation relates to the lack of across-the-board training for students and staff. With visitor numbers set to gradually increase and forecasts being positive, ACI aim to meet the challenge head on and restructure the hospitality and tourism educational offering currently present in Guyana.

By offering our Level 3 and Level 4 Hospitality Managament programmes, ACI aim to provide learners with the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to work in the hospitality and tourism industries to an international standard. Empowering local people is essential, by providing them with the tools they need, they will begin to understand the importance of the profession and understand how prosperous it can be for the country and as individuals.

Speaking on the potential of the ACI and CTH partnership, CTH Marketing Director, Steve Beckworth said:

We are really excited about our relationship, the team at ACI clearly share our ethos for high quality vocational education, and they will equip learners with an internationally-recognised CTH qualification for a successful career.
