Enter the CTH Chef Competition in South Africa!

CTH Partners with South African Chefs Association (SA Chefs) to Launch National Skills Competition 2025.
CTH is proud to announce an exciting new collaboration with SA Chefs - The CTH Student Chef Skills Showcase - Mzansi. This competition is a celebration of the next generation of culinary talent across South Africa. Designed to ignite creativity, showcase South African flavours and promote plant-based innovation, students are invited to compete with the best of the best.
Who can enter the competition?
- Students studying at a SA Chefs Skills Development Provider (Training Provider) Member
- Students enrolled at an institution offering CTH qualifications
Each team will consist of two students: one in their 1st year of study and one in their 2nd year of study (or two in their 1st year) and one mentor (who must be a lecturer at the school).
How to submit your team's entry?
Teams must submit a three-course menu with the following criteria:
- Your menu must represent South African food flavours
- There should be at least one plant-based dish on your menu
- Your menu should be balanced and seasonal
- You need to cost your entire menu and suggest a selling price
- Each dish should be accompanied by recipes (yield 4 portions)
- Photos representing the dishes on your menu must be submitted (a story board)
This competition is more than a showcase - it’s a movement. A chance for students to put their culinary identity on the plate, while positioning their training institutions as leaders in hospitality excellence.
Final entries must be submitted to SA Chefs by 25th May 2025. Finalists will be announced in early June 2025, with the final round taking place at InfoChef Gauteng in July 2025.
